November Newsletter

Dear Tillery Parents and Families,

Happy Friday! Many thanks to our fabulous PTO for organizing and implementing our first Fall Festival! Much fun was had by all! From the Special Events Committee to the donors, we truly appreciate all of the hard-work and dedication that went into making this such a successful event. We ended the week with our Penny Wars Fundraiser, I hope to have those amounts added up next week and reveal our grand total. As a reminder, the winning class will receive a popcorn and movie party. Monies raised from this will go towards the purchase of picnic tables at the playground. Our playground is now set to be delivered and installed during the week of November 25th .

As we move along through November, please note the following dates:

● November 22, Ice Cream Day

● November 27-29, Thanksgiving Break

As a reminder, the lunch portal closes every Friday at 3pm. If you forget to order lunch for your child, you must provide a lunch for your child that day. If you forget to pack a lunch, your child will be provided with a cold-lunch option and you will be charged. Extra hot lunch is not ordered. When sending in money, please continue to label the envelope with your child’s name and the days/dates that you are paying for lunch. We do not keep and maintain lunch credit in the office. Exact change must be sent in. Also, each class has a snack time every morning. It is the responsibility of the parent to provide the snack. At times, teachers have extra snack in their classrooms, but not enough for each child, every day. Please try to make these healthy snacks and remember that it is just that, a snack. NO SOFT DRINKS! Thank you for all of your cooperation with these concerns.

The next PTO Meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 3rd at 8:15am in the Common Room. Please join us. On December 6 th , Tillery Charter Academy will visit the Sunrise Theater in Downtown Southern Pines for a 10am showing of The Polar Express. The cost is $7 per child. This includes transportation, popcorn, a drink, and the movie. More information about this will be sent home next week. Seating is limited, as we will be visiting with other schools, I am working on finalizing a number to possibly include parent chaperones.

Enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year is now open. Currently enrolled students do not need to reapply. Please share this information with family and friends of the community. T-shirts, magnets, and stickers are still available for purchase in the front office. Many of you have reached out and asked about what we need here at school, here are some “wish list” items; Clorox wipes, paper towels, liquid soap- PLEASE do not send sanitizer, trash bags (standard size and industrial size), tissues, small bottles of water, and individually wrapped snacks (peanut-free). As always, please reach out with any comments or concerns.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Respectfully,

Teresa Harrison
